SUMMER KICKS OFF IN HIGH COUNTRY WITH BRECKENRIDGE FESTIVAL OF FILM AND RESORTQUEST.

May 14, 2007 – Breckenridge, Colo.—Fresh air and fresh films highlight the 27th year of the Breckenridge Film Fest, which now kicks off summer in Breckenridge with a new, earlier date on the calendar. The Film Fest which is hosted by Hollywood legend Jeffrey Lyons and his son Ben, now starts on Thursday, June 7 and runs through Sunday, June 10. Those looking to start their summer with a touch of Hollywood in the Colorado mountains will be able to take in premieres as well as 49 independent film including documentaries that will hit an emotional nerve. 

Starting on Thursday evening, moviegoers can catch one of the 11 premieres planned for the festival including September Dawn featuring Jon Voight, Surf’s Up and Death at a Funeral. In addition, the Breckenridge Film Fest prides itself on being one of best festivals for the strength and variety of independent films that are featured. This year, the festival is highlighting several documentaries that will spur conversation and tug at the heartstrings including Revolution Green featuring Willie Nelson and Land Out of Time with Woody Harrelson.  Breckenridge Film Fest also hosts the 6th anniversary of the GLBT film series with screenings that will take center stage. This year, the series will feature Whispering Moon, Sempre Fi, One Marine’s Journey and Out Running: Stories from the Campaign Trail.

The Breckenridge Film Fest has long been known for setting itself apart from other festivals for its commitment to education for everyone from the movie-lover to the filmmaker. This year, Irvin Kershner, best known as the director of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back one of the highest grossing films of all time and the second of the original Star Wars series and George Lucas's professor, will join Clark Farmer and other professors from the University of Colorado Film Studies program for a number of panels and symposiums. Highlighting the education component of the festival will be a screening and discussion of two classic films that capture American life in 1957, Peyton Place and A Face in the Crowd.
