THE Place to Stay for Skiing
BekC, Kansas City
Reviewed Feb. 2010

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Blue Sky Breckenridge. The room was lovely for our family of 4 with modern furnishings and all amenities. The three hot tubs and pool were great and never crowded. Free movie rentals and underground parking were great benefits too. We could walk to town (about 4 blocks) but still felt Blue Sky was a quiet retreat.

The location was perfect for our 3 days of skiing. It could not have been more convenient for getting on and off the slopes. We rented skis at Charter Sports which is on the first floor and stores your equipment at night. You leave your boots on the heated racks in the resident locker room also on the first floor. There is also a lift ticket counter next to Charter Sports for your convenience. The Snowflake lift is steps away. Ski in via Four O'Clock Run and turn right at the Snowflake sign. It is literally steps across the street to the ski racks at Charter Sports.

We will definitely stay here again!

Great Place to Stay. Great Trip.

This time we had a 4 bdr plus media room with 10 people. We drew straws to see which couple got stuck in the media room. The couple that lost the drawing said the pullout was quite comfortable. The unit housed all 10 of us very comfortably. The place was very quiet, didn't seem to be filled at all. Probably a tough year with the economy and lack of snow. Two of the 3 hot tubs were completely empty. Despite the lack of occupancy they did run out of towels the first night. We had a hard time controlling the temp in our unit, it always seemed a little warm despite the fact we turned the thermostat all the way down. Had to crack the windows which seems like a waste of energy but it worked fine. One night there was a lot of running in the unit above ours, sounded like kids were playing a soccer game indoors but other than that it was very quiet.

Jan at the front desk was very accomodating. One person in our group had her make reservations for fondu for a party of 12. After a group consult we decided to override that dinner and called Jan a few hours before our reservation and had her cancel. She suggested a couple of other places and after a few calls she got our group of now 10 into Taddio's on short notice. We used the BlueSky shuttle to take us all into town for dinner and called them when we were finished. It was great, no need for a designated driver. They even made two trips for pickup since some people wanted to stop for crepes for dessert. A few other minor notes - they don't allow ski equipment in the building. That meant when the last couple arrived and tried to carry their gear from the car at one end of the building to the locker room at the other end the front desk kicked them out and made them carry it around outside which was 3 times as long. I guess if I payed a million plus for a condo I wouldn't want any scratches on the walls or elevators either but that sucked. The ski rental and lift ticket sales in the building is very convenient. The locker room is great with boot drying racks and plenty of space to change into ski gear without having to get sweaty wearing all that stuff down from the room. Also don't take the snowflake trail which involves a lot of poling. Take 4 o'clock and near the end look for the small snowflake lift sign on the right and you can actually ski right to the edge of the road across from the doors without poling making it a true ski in/ski out building.

I had a very hard time sleeping mostly due to altitude and dryness. Each room had a humidifier which helped and when I cracked the window to lower the room temp it helped a litlte also. The sheets seemed like a poly blend, not my high thread count 100% cotton like home or the Marriott. Other than that the place is first class. I would definitely come back again.

Loved it!

Our extended family of 13 people ranging in age from 19 months to 60 stayed at the BlueSky the week after Christmas. We all loved it! It was a BUSY week in Breckenridge but felt like BlueSky was our own oasis. The staff was nice and attentive and the facility was gorgeous. In previous reviews, people noted issues with the elevators, luggage help, skiing home and pool noise. The elevators can be confusing, the first day, but it takes one run at it to figure it out. The pool ran out of towels one night which was disappointing but it was a busy week. We never had any issues with noise. The entire resort was remarkably quiet!! The shuttle was a great plus and always came within 5 to 10 minutes of us calling from our room or downtown. The first day I took the Snowflake run back to the hotel -- BIG MISTAKE! It is a little cross-countryish. Took forever although the next take took 4 O'clock run home and it was a BREEZE. There should be a sign at the snowflake lift about which run to take home to help other guests. We loved the locker room - such a nice feature! I would recommend BluSky to families traveling. Spacious and kid friendly. It was surprisingly quiet for those looking for a quiet get-away. We enjoyed it!

Great Place

BlueSky is a condo at the Snowflake Chair Lift. This is not a Hotel, with the associated pluses and minus of a hotel. Though a condo does not have the restaurants and additional services, usually acommodating many more guests, the condo has exceptional amenities and services.

Units: the units are spotless, highest quality materials, beautiful rooms.
Amenities: Nice pool, three large hot tubs, excercise room, steam room and kids room
Added: Charter sports within the building for convenient rentals at a 30% discount, free ski storage, locker room. Free internet. Free computer stations with printer
Location. Ski in ski out at the base of the Snowflake lift
Local transfer: Free car available for local travel.

You will not have restaurants, room service etc, but this is a condo. You can't get a 3 bedroom at the Ritz (which the quality of BlueSky is as good as) for anywhere near the price of BlueSky. I will readily give up those few services for the significantly lower price. This has to be one of the best places to stay in Breckenridge.

I was there in the early ski season and it was very quiet and did not encounter any of the problems with noisy kids by the pool.

Best Hotel Ever

The BlueSky hotel is in a great location. The people were friendly and the place was spotless. There was a tram that took us anywhere we wanted to go. It was quick and the driver was courteous. It had the best jacuzzi tubs (three in all), and was never crowded. The underground parking lot was always well kept, and warm. There is an internet room with a library. The hotel has great views of the mountains. There was a ski in-ski out lifts at the resort. We rented our equipment from Charter Sports. They were also very courteous and happy to help. Our room had a nice fireplace with updated appliances. It was well decorated, and had a cozy feel. We went for our honeymoon, and it was the best hotel we have every stayed at. We are going to go back in April to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Outstanding Hotel - Great Location & Amenities
Andeee. Melbourne, Australia
Reviewed Oct. 2009

(Abreviated version) An outstanding property which was built in 2007 so is basically brand new and as such is a beautiful property which is well thought out.

So many great things to mention about this property it is hard to know where to start. Firstly the location, while not being within walking distance to town, is sensational. You have a 50 ft walk to the Snowflake lift and can basically ski to the door. The snowflake lift takes you to a great location for anyone to start skiing/boarding from (nice green beginner runs)

There is ample parking, if asked, and getting to your room is quite easy from the parking garage as the lifts go to the rooms directly from here. Yes there are different lifts for different floors, but it's clearly explained when you check in.

As for the "overall service" at this resort. Resorts such as this do NOT have full service amenities so as such are not truly classed as a 5 star property. There is no room service, there is no food/drink service by the pool etc etc. Yes it is a Platinum property as indicated by ResortQuest but this is not the same as a 5 star rating in a hotel. I just had to clear that up for those reading other reviews!

Now back to the hotel, check-in was a breeze and we were offered assistance with our luggage but declined as we wanted to sort through some stuff and leave some in the SUV in the garage before bringing it up to the room.

Took 1 easy lift to get to our condo as we followed the clear instructions from the front desk staff member. The condo was beautifully furnished as from the pictures with this review. The master bedroom was large, had heaps of storage space and 2 sets of drawers so even with all our ski clothing and non-ski clothing there was heaps of room left over. The wardrobe was huge and there was another closet space near the front door with space for ski boots, wet jackets etc etc. There is a nice seating area near the front door again which is great for putting on shoes, boots etc.

The kitchen was fantastic with beautiful appliances, dishwasher, double door fridge with water and ice dispenser, everything you would expect from a platinum rated property. Every needed kitchen utensil is provided so cooking is very easy and is always good for a few nights.

The lounge/sitting room had a fireplace with a nice HD LCD tv above it with a HUGE selection of cable channels and lots of HD channels as well. One of my pet hates is hotels that only have a few cable stations to pick from, but there were hundreds here. Both the bedrooms also had a smaller HD LCD tv and lots of cable stations to pick from as well.

The bathroom was large with a large shower, separate toilet with a door, double basins and great lighting.

There is also a large dining table in the room with seating for 8 people, we never used it as the few dinners we ate at the condo were taken on the couch in front of the fire and TV!

There is a complimentary shuttle service that runs from 7am to midnight (from memory) We were there during peak Winter and never had a problem obtaining a shuttle. We would call down before leaving the room and basically would walk straight onto it. The drivers were outstanding and we made sure to tip them well. They always seemed happy to see us after that.. If you had your skis, they would jump out of the shuttle to assist you putting them onto the rear of the vehicle. All this provided FREE, except for tips of course! Very easy to get a shuttle to/from town so we would have a nice dinner out with a few drinks and then call the shuttle to pick us up! Almost no need for a car while staying here, but it's always good to have as a backup or if you want to do a big shopping expedition etc.

This is an outstanding hotel and is one of the best, if not the best in Breckenridge.

Guest Reviews of BlueSky

  • Best service ever thanks to Brigitte & Steve!! Extremely accommodating. We could not have asked for better service. They were so appreciative to have us all there and made our guests feel like royalty. Everyone was so taken a back with the resort and how gorgeous it was – especially for the price they paid. Our guests were more than impressed when they got to BlueSky. Our guests are already planning a trip back to BlueSky! We will be back this holiday season with our families. As well as our friends plan on making BlueSky an annual trip. Everyone loved it so much. I can never thank the staff enough for the way Adam and I and our guests were treated. It was a weekend we will never forget. Thank you all so much. - Blemberg & Duerr Wedding May 2010
