22nd Annual Budweiser International Snow Sculpture
Breckenridge is the meeting place for the snow mastering teams who come from all over the world to carve their creativity into 12 foot tall, 20 ton blocks of snow. The four person teams have 65 hours and anything but power tools to make their snow come alive.
This year we have 15 teams from eight different countries (United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Sweden, China, Austria and Australia) will participate in the 21st Annual Budweiser Snow Sculpture Championships at the Riverwalk Center. They will sculpt for a total of 65 hours and present their finished products on Saturday, January 28th at 10 a.m.
- Sculpting will begin Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m.
- Sculpting ends Saturday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m.
- Judging begins right after the end of sculpting at 10:00 a.m.
- Awards Ceremony is Sunday, January 30th at 3:30 p.m.
- Viewing Week is Jan. 29- Sunday, February 4, 2012 (weather permitting)
When the sculptures are finished on Saturday, January 28, a panel of well-known artists and patrons of the arts serve as judges. Awards are presented to the first, second and third place sculptures on Sunday, January 29. Awards are also given for People's Choice, Kids' Choice and Artists' Choice.
The Snow Sculptures are located in the area around the Riverwalk Center at 150 West Adams Avenue, Breckenridge, CO 80424. In the Riverwalk Center is the Snow Lounge where guests can buy merchandise and view the new Ice Sculture History room. The competition sculptures are in the Riverwalk Center (Tiger Dredge) parking lot and the sponsor/exhibition sculptures are spread onto the "lawn" just north of the Riverwalk Center and across the river in the Blue River Plaza adjacent to Main Street.
